SUMMARY

It’s the star of our ‘Silver Shotgun’ exhibit at the Petersen Museum, and the only original-paint, running factory racing Ducati from the famous Imola 200 race in 1972.  “Riding the Legend” puts viewers onboard — at racing speeds — one of the few surviving 1972 Ducati 750 Imola factory racers at Willow Springs International Raceway.
Just seven of these desmodromic V-twins were built for the 1972 Imola 200, known as “the Daytona of Europe,” making them among the rarest of racing Ducatis and launching the Italian company as a superbike builder. This example is the featured machine of ‘Silver Shotgun’, and its owner John L. Stein, along with filmmaker Seth DeDeos, were gracious to share the film of this remarkable machine with The Vintagent.
