It’s really the thing between motorcycle riders, or passengers, and other people: if you have to explain it to someone, there’s a big probability that it won’t be understood. Some help can be found on Sting’s songs: “If you love somebody, set them free”.
I agree with the concept .. the choice of songs ? Errr … not so much .
Suffice it to say you’re misreading the intent of Sting’s minor classic .
Hmmm … will think a bit if anyone every has written a lyric that fits the idea … and get back if I do
Upon consideration .. first .. I retract my comment . Too little .. coffee too early in the morning and dealing with the aftermath of a run in with ” The Song of the Sausage Creature ” being my sole excuse
OK … so lets get real . The ” … if you have to explain it to someone …. ” line is a pathetic age old copout that in reality is code for you’ve got an irrational obsession verging on psychosis .. or at the very least have no clue why you do what you do … or worse … you do what you do cause everybody else is doing it and you’re not willing to admit it
Secondly … Stings ” If You Love Somebody Set Them Free ” is the abject opposite to ” if you have to explain… ”
In fact … the lyrics condemn both obsession and making excuses for it
And really Mr Vicente … does anyone with even a moderate ability to communicate NEED a copout excuse to ride ? Hell mate … I could give you a thousand and one reasons why one wishes to ride without even thinking about it . Sure … there’s a boatload not to as well … but then again there’s a boatload of reasons not to get out of bed in the morning … yet we all still do it . assuming we can
Finally .. a little note on obsession … psychology 101 … unrestrained passions inevitably become obsessions ( actions without reason ) that control you .. not the other way around … and once they evolve into psychosis ( which they will left unchecked ) … well matey … y’alls goin down like a lead filled leaking ship .. And err … ya aint in control … of anything .. regardless of one’s self delusions
Apologies but err … mindless vapid platitudes like this really get under my skin
😎
” My name’s the Teacher ….that is what I call myself ” – Ian Anderson
Love the film … enjoyed both their websites ( molto grazie for the links ) …
.. would love it even more if Alp Racing Design turned that Vincent v-twin concept into reality .. preferably with a Godet Vincent v-twin ( same specs , same design , updated metallurgy )
Every interaction with another stems from one’s subjective experience of life, within all it’s intricate details, conscious of them or not. What’s of the utmost importance to some, may be utterly meaningless to another. But really important is to respect the other, if it harms no one (and, for many, this is the most difficult task of all).
Ahhh … self deluded Post Intellectual quasi hipster wanna be relativism … a real nice way of saying you don’t know what the ______ you’re talking about ( Philosophy101 ) …all couched in a sad attempt to appear intellectual
i.e. The ultimate copout !
Here’s reality … its either true … a grey area ( of which there are many albeit well defined ) .. or … as the TV character ” Bulldog ” ( Frasier ) would say …..
” BS … thats total BS ! ”
FYI ; Respect mi amigo … is earned … not given … comprende ?
… and ahhh .. in regards to your initial comment … to sum things up nicely ;
( pardon the wordiness but as a teacher I do sometimes get carried away )
Suffice it to say thats just a way of trying to make yourself appear somehow above it all … in a very Gnostic kind of way … which is in reality ..
.. is the ultimate in disrespect
So it appears amongst other things .. you’re a hypocrite as well .. or at the very least extremely uninformed

For this conversation that has strayed far away from the original subject ( like most comment sections), I’ll quote Run DMC- ‘You talk to much’. Oh yea, and Talking Heads- ‘You’re talking a lot, but you’re not saying anything’. The film? I do love being privy to the lives others who enjoy a connection to machines that sometimes are the center of our lives. The kind of machines that we love, and sometimes love us back-or not. I enjoy the combination of machines and the romance we assign to, and suffer from, sometimes. Now, back to tinkering with my latest partner.
