Winning the 1972 Imola 200 “Italian Daytona” race put Ducati’s new V-twin on the map. Amazingly, the factory followed up in 1973 by offering hand-built race replicas, the 750 Super Sport. The 750 SS was the fastest road-legal motorcycle in the world when released in 1973, and as beautiful as it was effective on the racetrack. The duck-egg green frame and see-through fuel tank are legendary, and it was immediately hailed as a masterpiece of design.
