The chunky metallic finish of Ducati’s 1971 Desmo model, nicknamed “Silver Shotgun,” was the herald of an amazing decade for the Italian motorcycle industry. New, large-capacity V-twin, triple, and four-cylinder designs from Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Laverda, and MV Agusta were the fastest motorcycles in the world, with exceptional frames, suspension, wheels, and brakes to match their power. Italian designers then created superb bodywork to clad these superb café racers, making them both the fastest and most beautiful motorcycles in the world.
