Shahverdi is a maverick in conservative Iran — a divorced, motorcycle-riding former midwife and the first woman ever elected to a local council in her country. The documentary about this extraordinary woman, directed by Iranian American filmmakers Sara Khaki and Mohammadreza Eyni (in their feature debut), has won awards around the globe beginning at Sundance, where it earned the Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema Documentary. Here’s hoping in light of the stupidity being exercised by my country ( when has forced regime change ever worked in our favor … answer … never .. we only make things worse ) that she remains safe and alive … and that perhaps despite it all … internal change may come about ….
Damn …. gonna have ta see this one .. one way or another …. and the timing ? Couldn’t be better … hopefully drilling the point home that Iranians … are human beings like the rest of us …. and as Persia … are the cradle of all western and middle eastern civilization .

In addendum … kudos … in spades to the film makers as well .. courage , dedication to the truth .. and a willingness to put one’s life on the line for what one believes in sums them both up quite well .
