Bonneville veteran Mark Atkinson is no stranger to the unique, and embraced the challenge of building a custom e-bike for Electric Revolution. The Racer X chassis was completely fabricated by Atkinson using ideas unfriendly to production, but exciting to see in the metal, like hubless wheels and duo-pivot servo-controlled steering. Frustrated that many e-bikes look like IC bikes, he veered into unique turf, using an FIM record-holding motor inside his radical aluminum X-frame that looks like no bike ever.
“Electric motorcycles are interesting to me because there are no prior restrictions. Tradition doesn’t really play a roll, besides it needs two wheels. Stylish gas tanks that play such an important style cue on the motorcycles we have looked at for our whole lives are a thing of the past. What new ideas can we implement? Racer-X is my clean sheet vision of an electric motorcycle.” – Mark Atkinson
