Adventure rider Lyndon Poskitt is a seasoned overland racer, having competed in the Dakar rally twice, and in the Baja 1000. With this highly modified KTM he calls ‘Basil’ (after his late grandfather), he also rode around the world, arranging his route to compete in off-road races on every continent but Antarctica. He called his project Races to Places, and clocked up 110,000 miles in four years, after building what he considers the ultimate overland adventure motorcycle, based on a KTM 690 Rally, but modified to suit the rigors of long-distance riding in isolated locales. When riding alone, reliability is paramount, and as Poskitt planned to race his KTM en route, it also had to be fast. Basil is both, and Poskitt successfully completed his circumnavigation in 2019.
