After their successful 2004 round-the-world adventure documented in Long Way Round, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman joined forces again for a trip down Africa in 2007’s Long Way Down. When Harley-Davidson introduced their first electric motorcycle in 2018, the Livewire, the pair decided on yet another epic adventure, traveling from the southern tip of South America (Ushuaia) to Los Angeles on electric motorcycles. The journey took 100 days, covered 13,000 miles and 13 countries, and was documented in the TV series Long Way Up. The team included electric truck maker Rivian, who supplied R1T trucks and 200 charging stations for the journey. Harley-Davidson modified two Livewires for the journey, with longer-travel suspension and wheels from the Pan America model, although the motor and battery remained stock.
