“I have a hard time staying ‘realistic’ in my day to day. I’ve always been a big delusion-ist. I’m making up this word, by the way.” – Nathalia Pizarro
Inspired by Jack Cardiff’s original film The Girl On A Motorcycle (1968) and driven by music from the very beginning, Nathalia shares how Lou Lou Safran brought Rebecca’s rebellious energy to life — and how the soundtrack became part of the film’s emotional DNA.
Nathalia Pizarro is a writer, director, producer & musician born in Canada, currently living in Malibu, California. Nathalia has been nominated for several awards in 2018 including the Grand Prix Canal award at L’Etrange festival in Paris, France and winning Best Director at Nightmares Film Festival for her film A DEATH STORY CALLED GIRL. She recently finished her proof-of-concept short THE GIRL ON A MOTORCYCLE, and is currently in development for her debut feature film 1996.
SUMMARY
Fueled by vicious rock ‘n’ roll and the promise of escape, Rebecca takes off on her 1967 Electra Glide in search of Daniel—the lover she has built into something close to an ideal. But somewhere between the open road, desire, and fantasy, the line between escape and delusion begins to blur. The Girl on a Motorcycle is a visceral ride through youthful rebellion, romantic obsession, and the intoxicating freedom of leaving reality behind.
