FILM MAKERS
Nick Davis produced and directed Leaving Tracks, the feature-length documentary that tells the life story of Robert Haas, otherwise known as Bobby Haas, the founder of the Haas Moto Museum. Leaving Tracks has appeared at over 15 film festivals worldwide, including Docufest, Montreal Independent Film Festival, New York International Film Festival, and Oniros, where it won Best Documentary Feature.
“The journey into filmmaking that I initiated two years ago would have been impossible without an experienced, sensitive, and flexible guide and partner who could coax and cajole and shape this story into a final documentary we would all be proud of. Nick immediately grasped the potential of the story and the magnetism of the characters. With the benefit of hindsight (and warmed by the glow of the critical acclaim that has come our way so soon after the film’s release), Nick was the ideal Producer to convert this story into an award-winning film.” — Bobby Haas
SUMMARY
The story of a man, his museum, and lives changed forever.
LEAVING TRACKS tells the intimate and compelling story of the founder of the Haas Moto Museum, and his immense impact on the lives of the custom builders whose masterpieces elevate the Museum to the pinnacle of its industry. Beneath his success as a financier and Nat Geo photographer, Bobby Haas grapples with a lifetime of trauma in his quest to create a museum like no other. The film probes the surprising affection that develops between the founder and the custom builders, who are united by their shared chase for perfection. Embedded in the Museum’s rolling works of art that exude danger and speed are the universal challenges of human endeavor.

Nahhhh … not a fan of poor little rich boy museums or homages . Add that to the fact I’m boycotting The Mothership/ CERN wanna be… Corporate Cronies* ..
….. and this’ll be one less 90 minute waste of my time , energy and focus .
* ( after some 40 years of loyalty mind you … they’ve turned their backs on the long term loyal ADULTS in order to draw in the new…….. turning everything Apple into enshitified KiddieLand for the terminally AD addled hummingbirds)
Thank you for sharing this great story. Without the late Mr Haas moving forward to both engage these talented builders and provide them with an outlet, means and a place to share their creations, most people would have no idea of their existence. These individuals are true artisans. Granted, some enthusiasts are aware of events such as The Quail Motofest in Carmel CA., however builders / owners must be invited to attend, and many motorcyclists I know, have never heard of the event. Hence limited visibility of the incredible machines they create would be the result. Hopefully, his museum will continue to attract and support new artists and their two-wheeled creations for many years to come. He’s left quite a legacy…
Haas? As in founder of Haas machine tools in oxnard, calif.?
“A beautifully crafted documentary that not only showcases the artistry of custom motorcycle builders but also delves deep into the human connections and personal journeys that fuel such creativity. ‘Leaving Tracks’ is a poignant reminder of how passion can leave an indelible mark on both machines and souls.”
