To celebrate the company’s 90th anniversary, Belstaff embarked on a campaign spotlighting the brand’s rich heritage and its deep connection to the motorcycle culture that has inspired generations of adventurers.This 2014 campaign, featuring David Beckham, captured by legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh and creatively directed by Trey Laird, served as the centerpiece of a broader strategy, which encompassed events, publications, multiple films, a documentary collaboration, and a special capsule collection in partnership with David.
A limited edition coffee-table book of photography by Peter Lindberg was released, titled Off Road. Copies are rare, but there is one for sale on Ebay UK!
SUMMARY
Inspired by classic road trip and biker films like Easy Rider, the film highlights the gritty, noisy, and free-spirited nature of riding motorcycles while dressed in signature Belstaff leather jackets and waxed cotton gear. It features renowned footballer and avid motorcyclist David Beckham and model Andreea Diaconu zipping through fields on a motorcycle. The serene beauty of the English Countryside is offset by the Grit, Noise & Exuberance of friends with a shared thirst for Adventure.

Can’t say Im a fan … of any brand’s waxed cotton ( for a multitude of reasons ).. David Beckham …
.( or any sports/ music etc celebrity for that matter trying to sell me something he/she knows nothing about and cares even less other than the paycheck at the end of the day )
.. and especially that inane crap posing as a soundtrack to this infomercial wanna be ad campaign .

the Belstaff waxed cotton has no padding or armor, meaning that it has almost no protection against impact or slide. I have a couple of waxed cotton jackets that have padding, so maybe I am a fan of waxed cotton that could provide some protection.
I agree the film is mostly an advertisement.
Well in fairness it’s 100% an ad. it’s for our new series, The Vintagent Ads: The campaigns that sold us.
I can say from personal experience that their motorcycle line is more than you would expect. I was given a Belstaff jacket back in 2016 (thank god, they were $900 at the time) from shockingly their WOMEN”S line…and while it was not my ancient men’s Barbour International waxed cotton that i’d bounced around in, on a vintage motorcycle for a decade or more, it was (gasp) better!
The material feels a bit more synthetic but looks the part. Pockets and belt all in the right places. But more importantly, I put thousands and thousands of miles on that jacket chasing the wall of death in torrential endless downpours for hours, months, and years. Not only did the back, elbow and shoulder armor keep me safe, but i’ll be damned that I never got so much as a little damp.
I still wear that jacket today and it hasn’t aged at all. but here’s the rub… They don’t sell it anymore, and have almost entirely done away with the women’s moto line. Luckily you buys are still protected in a dozen stylish ways…if you can afford it.
So … once again women riders take it on the chin . Ridiculous in light of the fact that there are more women riding today than ever .
But ahhh … I’d take issue with your compliments of the big B my good woman …. I’ve known too many who’ve owned the big B waxed cotton … all of whom would disagree with you completely ,,, all of whom have long since dumped their waxed cordon for modern materials … placing function first and foremost over form .
So ahhhh … perhaps a bit of that PDDS …[ post decision denial syndrome … which I take it is now being called post decision denial by some ] going on ?

Perhaps you missed it in my comment, but i clearly said that my modern Belstaff jacket keeps me bone dry…where as my old waxed cotton Barbour does not and never did. The reason being that Belstaff does use modern materials. NOT waxed cotton fr the moto line (or at least did in 2016). So, you may take issue with it. But i’m the one who’s owned and worn it for 10 years so unless you’re calling me a liar (or less knowledgable that you on my own experiences)… let’s go with my personal review of an actual jacket i own and wear and stayed dry in even last Saturday on an epic thunderstorm ride on my 1970 BSA Lightning.
My reasons for disliking waxed cotton are ;
1) It stains everything you sit in or on … especially leather
2) You’re constantly rewaxing the damn thing
3) Even with the best of the best the wax flakes off
4) Most if not all of it now comes from …. oh come on … you know … don’t you ? Jes in case though China .. and with the discount brands India and Viet Nam … hell … even Barbour .. the so called pinnacle of the type … hasn’t been British for decades now
5) Its hot and uncomfortable in even moderate temps .. which means you sweat yer posterior off in ti
And did I read someone wondering about prices ? Try $250 for the bottom line off brand discount stuff to upwards of a $1000 or more for some .
And for the record .. yes . like the foo that I was back then … . I did for a time own a Barbour … worst outerwear … biker or otherwise investment I ever made … luckily some idiot Anglophile hipster paid me more that it cost to take it off my hands …. eeesh …
I’ll add to the above contrary to Mz Mantlo’s claims ;
6) It does NOT keep you dry … in the slightest … be it rain coming in … sweat not going out … or worse the combination of both …
By the end of almost any ride wearing waxed cotton ( as a fashion statement cause thats all it is these days ) … you’re a sopping soaked mess right to the bone .
Which is to say … in its day … waxed and oiled cotton was the only option … and being so … well … it worked as well as could be expected … but by todays standards ?
As stated above … its a PDDS fashion statement plain and simple …

fascinating discussion, maybe I will revisit the Belstaff jackets, the one I had looked at was not padded and didn’t have pockets for armor. I have a waxed cotton Merlin jacket, I think that the model is Wesley, a bit cheaper than Belstaff, I think that it cost me in the $300 range.
What do them things run,at least $500 a piece I bet.They must think we’re all millionaires
