SUMMARY
A young genius is discovered in Ghana, building hand-made solar-powered scooters from scrap. Samuel Aboagye’s scooters are included in the Petersen Automotive Museum’s ‘Electric Revolutionaries’ exhibit, but it took two Motor/Cycle Arts Foundation members to fetch them from Accra. Curator Paul d’Orléans explains the importance of Samuel’s inventions.

Revolutionary ??? … OK …. Soooooo lets see … stick a car battery and an electric motor ( from what ever ) on a scooter or go-kart .
Hmmm …gee … like that hasn’t been done 100,000 + previously across the entire globe to greater and lesser effect since the beginning of the 20th century ( and probably earlier ) .
In other words … revolutionary my lily white posterior . Maybe in some alternate universe or revisionist dictionary …. but in reality …. just another amongst the multitudes … in other words …

I doubt any of the kids cobbling scooters from roller skates and scrap wood had the gumption to source solar panels and wire up a bluetooth system with lights on their rides. This was just one in a string of his inventions attempting to address the needs of his community. You scoff, but your lily white posterior is showing: this kid is genuinely special, and is explicitly interested in improving African mobility and the lives of his community. And, he’s doing it. Quite unusual for any 17year old.
