One of my tasks at Jack Baldwin’s in Santa Monica was driving to the docks in Long Beach, loading a couple of crated Commandos into the van, then uncreating, assembling and servicing them. I was 16 and livin’ da dream. One day, as I was preparing to make a regular run to the DMV Jack says, “You can take the demo Commando if you can start it.” Even with my meager 135 pounds that was no sweat, but what a rush it was riding that beast!
A few years later I was racing against them at Ascot, but that’s another story.
So many good memories…..
