SUMMARY
Iron Lilly is an epic, heart-stirring journey into the life of Lilly Farrow, a fearless pioneer who shattered expectations and carved her name into history. Set in early 20th century America, this film brings to life the extraordinary true story of a woman who, alongside her husband Dale, founded A D Farrow Co Harley Davidson in 1912, now the world’s longest running Harley Davidson dealership. But Lilly’s greatest challenge would come after an unthinkable tragedy left her alone to raise three children and steer a growing business through the turmoil of two World Wars, the Spanish Flu epidemic, the Great Depression, and the relentless barriers of a male dominated industry. Fueled by unbreakable determination, she not only kept her family and company alive, she thrived, defying the odds to organize the first official riding club and orchestrate some of the earliest motorcycle races. With breathtaking cinematography and a story that pulses with love, loss, and perseverance, Iron Lilly is more than a film about motorcycles, it is a tribute to resilience, leadership, and the power of an unstoppable spirit.
OK …
A) The bikes are all wrong for 1912
B) As are the mens clothing as well as the language !
C) Not to mention the portrayal of M/C culture … which in this film is anything but 1912 .. hell it aint even 1920’s … more like late forties – fifties
D) Which then leads to a whole lotta doubt as to the historical veracity / accuracy of anything this so called Doc Drama is trying to represent .
So right outta the gate … I’m giving this pretense of a film a ginormous ‘ F ‘ … regardless … cause in the end … the LAST thing we need in this current zeitgeist is another pile of Revisionist historical lies ..
In conclusion .. either do it right .. or don’t do it at all
10,000 shames to the power of ten upon you Corrina …cause of all people … YOU … should know a helluva lot better
DKS
I’ll agree… the bikes, clothes, language , music and culture were not historically perfect. I don’t think that affected the accuracy and truthfulness. “Revisionist historical lies,” is just hyperbole.
Enjoy the motorcycle life the bikes, clothes and root for Lily.
Might I respectfully recommend you revisit [ or look up for the first time perhaps ? ] the DEFINITION of revisionist history … cause … and I quote ( you )
” I’ll agree… the bikes, clothes, language , music and culture were not historically perfect ”
Is the very definition of Revisionist history . And by the way … not to drop yet another rock on you … but ” not historically perfect ” does NOT even come close ! More like ludicrously inaccurate to the point of insulting the knowledge and intelligence of anyone with so much as a clue about M/C , American vernacular and fashion history .
And ahh … just to toss out the Elitist info so you know exactly who you are dealing with .
Advanced degrees in multiple filed … but more importantly … a motorcycle family history that goes all the way back to the 1920’s … complete with photos , written history and yes … the very damn cloths that were worn back in the day .
Or to put it more bluntly .. get yer damn facts straight ?
To paraphrase Norm Abrams … ‘ do your research twice before posting even so much as once ‘
Yep, bikes and vibe and music are all wrong, dubious writing, BUT DID YOU SEE THAT SINGLE-CYLINDER JDH CUT-DOWN she’s riding!!! That’s a real deal 1930s special…I think I have photos…who owns it? Amazeballs bike. Gorgeous actress – who is she?
So, even though they called it a “final trailer” it is in fact a concept teaser for fundraising to make the film. The bikes (all i believe) were from Dale’s Wheels Through Time, and the stunt riders include our dear friends William Applegate (AMDC Wall of Death), Charlie Ransom (former ADMC Wall of Death and museum family), and Britney Olsen (20th Century Racing), as well as a few more from the museum staff…
While the teaser is quite bad, the story is worth telling and has some heavy hitters on the advisory board. I hope they find their funding and make a great film… and put out a real trailer!
Phew … glad to hear this aint the real thing … cause what’s above .. is pure unmitigated crap … and yes the story deserves telling .. proper telling that is
Errr … and about those ‘ heavy hitters ‘ … a little word to the wise from an award winning composer/musician .. husband of a very successful author .. not to mention one who’s been deeply involved in film and TV ( composer etc .. ahh the joys of a very well shielded DBA )
Putting your worst foot forward when presenting a concept is the kiss of death in the entertainment industry … especially now that the entire industry’s sole focus is the almighty $$$$$$$$ … creativity and historical significance be damned … whether the first three chapters … the first rough cuts of an album .. the concept for a script .. or a preview of things to come … you do your very damn best … or die a slow , costly and painful death
So if I had to place odds on this … I’d give it less than zero ….
But yes Corrina … the story does deserve telling ( assuming there is a story .. see below )… cause yeah … other than the solicitation attempts by the film makers [ which are in and of themselves pathetic ] .. they aint diddly squat about Iron Lily to be found anywhere on the net …. but perhaps these aren’t the folks to be doing it ! Shame that someone ( hmmm ? ) sold them of all groups the rights to do it
Cause now … al bets are the story will continue to remain a mystery ..
But as for the ‘ story ‘ . Just how valid is it ? I mean … nothing on the entire net other than the production company’s propaganda ? …. nothing in any book ? …. nothing ? Really ???
On this I could be wrong now … but with the evidence at hand … I’m starting to not think so … to paraphrase the ‘ Bard’ ‘ ( Randy Newman )
😎
I dont know but I feel like I’ve seen shows like “Iron Lilly” before, dozens and dozens of times before. The word Formulaic comes to mind. You just plug different plots and characters into a standardized formula and the screenplay is written, presto. At first theres adversity but through steely determination and iron will our heroes triumph….
But I dont think the real Lilly would have ripped up a perfectly good skirt.
Well well well … once again we’re in agreement …. hmm … so whats that now … three times ? Damn !
Hey … not complaining or criticizing mind you … more like paying you an upfront honest complement
So here’s a little insight to validate yer opinion .
The ladies ..coming off nearly two decades of bicycles .. were right there along side the men back ih the early days of motorcycling … and damn sure wouldn’t of showed up for a potential contest wearing their Sunday best
Care to read up on it ? The book … ” Iron Horse Cowgirls ” … that book’ll set a lot of misogynist arseholes straight ! Fact is a lot of them ladies was kicking us males asses left and right … in all venues
😎
And yeah .. when it comes to today’s ‘ film ‘ industry ‘ …. Xerox is the name of the game .. grab onto a successful formula … repeat 100000000000 of times … and then do it again .
On the dress issue … again .. spot on .. simple fact is if Iron Lily was the half woman this ‘ production ‘ company is trying to portray her as …
She’d of showed up at this ‘ gathering ‘ loaded for bear , dressed appropriately and ready to take some names and kick some serious ass …
And how does I know that ya might ask ? Well Corrina knows the full story … but suffice it to say as a 13 year old I was taught how to ride ( both street and the WoD ) by a wisp of a young lady barely two years my senior … who herself was one serious little badass .. so yeah … I’ve know from day one .. the ladies can do it all .. oh .. and then there ws those kart racing exploits with a Brit young lady some 5 years my senior … who went on to race in F1 for a bit .. who rises my racing game 1000 percent .
And then there’s the wife … suffice it to say … as quiet and subdued as she may appear .. those who’ve crossed her learned the opposite to be true .. the hard way
Toodles Chris .. and stick to the path yer on of late … its the winner !
