FILM MAKERS
Director Donald Shebib is most well known for his 1970 film ‘Goin’ Down The Road‘ which, despite the small production budget, is generally regarded as one of the best and most influential Canadian films of all time and has received considerable critical acclaim for its writing, directing and acting. It tells the story of two young men who decide to leave the Maritimes, where jobs and fulfilling lives are hard to find, for the excitement and perceived riches of Toronto. Donald Shebib passed away in late 2023, leaving behind a legacy that shaped the landscape of Canadian cinema.
*Shebib is now known to a new generation as the father of famed Drake producer Noah “40” Shebib. Drake sampled a snippet of dialogue from Satan’s Choice on his track “Lose You”.
SUMMARY
Made for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), Satan’s Choice is a rare “inside” view of a motorcycle club in Toronto. The names they adopt (Satan’s Choice is only one) are as individual as their special ethics and views of life, all freely expressed in this film. A second Satan’s Choice short film was made in 1967 with the same title, also made for NFB. This TV short followed the club’s evolving story and focused heavily on a criminal trial involving several of the members featured in the first film, though I have yet to track it down. Stay tuned!

Sooooo … thats the roots of Canadian outlaw M/C . Interesting . Similar to ours … but not quite the same . Totally devoid of that CDN charm I love so much though ( got family in Toronto and Montreal / Quebec City )
Now days though its almost noting but H-A’s across Canada … but specifically in Toronto and Montreal …… with CDN being the second largest concentration of H-A’s in the world … barely behind us .
Fact is … and yeah I know the quisling sycophant true believers would deny this …. a majority of illegal drugs entering the US ….come from CDN ( fact not internet BS )
Fact is … when living in VT …which was on the trail south for the H-A’s/ drug runners etc … I saw and ran into more damn drug runners … H-A’s etc in the three years I was there than in either LA or NYC …. saw more damn related murders as well ( so much of the myth of VT ) Oh … and did I mention local corrupt officials up the yin yang sanctioning it all ?
Ahhhh .. but Canada … still thinking … definitely can ( got our invite in hand ) may yet
Thanks for this’n Corrina …. !
Rock On – Ride On – Remain calm ( despite the ongoing BS ) – Carry On …. and
KEEP CANADA CANADIAN …
😎
Oh … and BTW … myth buster time … Ethan Allen was a smuggler … not a hero … bringing banned British goods into the colonies …. cause the demand was so high as well as the profits ….right up till the end of the revolution at which point he rebranded himself as some brave soul here
But oh … hey … silly me …. its Canada Day .
Guaranteed despite heat rain and wildfires their celebration will be a helluva lot better than our cluster**** posing/ cosplaying at being a unifying event !
” Oh Canada ……. ” … boring anthem … but then again … which country’s isn’t ? Japan’s maybe ? Hmmm ….
KEEP CANADA CANADIAN ! .
😎
They’re all drinking Carlings Black Label.Thats right up there with Hamms,Red White and Blue and Grand Union beer.I never had it in a bottle, though, where its supposed to taste better
When I was 5 a man hired me and my brother to pick up all the empty beer cans under the deck of this bar on Fire Island.Nice, rusty steel cans with rusted out jagged edges to step on.The vast majority of them? Carlings black label
This …. suffice it to say … is not me !!!!
So now you’ve stooped to spoofing Splinky ?
Yup … one a troll child … always a troll child

They like Carlings Black Label beer which is right up there with Hamms,Red White and Blue and Grand Union.I’ve never had it in a bottle though which as a rule of thumb is supposed to be a little better than in a can when it comes to cheap beer.Think Old Milwaukee in a bottle which of course they discontinued
I just made a second comment on the same subject because the first one didn’t go through at first.I guess you have to wait awhile sometimes for it to appear
Nice try Troll boy … but ahh … suffice it to say … once again ..
YOU’VE BEEN BURNED
And ahhh … Fire Island … ehhh … so I guess we now know what your proclivities are …
Sigh …. to quote Forest Gump
” Stupid is as Stupid Does “
