VIRGINIA'S HARLEY: A GIRL'S BIKE (2016)

Run Time: 6:47
Director: Jay Cagney
Producer: Ryan Stiles
Producer: Jay Cagney
Key Cast: Virginia Hall

FILM MAKERS

Jay Cagney: “I started creating media as a way to share the things I am most passionate about with others. That includes activities like BMX/MTB, skateboarding, snowboarding, motorcycles, and really anything that includes being outside. I worked with Original Skateboards for 6 years creating media for their marketing all over the world and when I left in 2016 I was head of the video department. Since then I have been working freelance which has involved a lot of traveling and great memories. I have also recently relocated from the east coast to Denver.”

SUMMARY

Over the past year, I’ve documented Virginia’s creation of this motorcycle. The bike started as a stock ’96 XL1200c, and through many hours of late nights, dirty fingernails and torn gloves, Virginia was able to complete the bike you see her riding today. The bike above covers about 6 months of building from January to June of 2015. Because neither of us had a lot of experience building motorcycles, we pulled knowledge and advice from the people around us, and through lots information online. We’re both happy to see the bike complete, and even more happy to present to you our journey through it.

ZID SMRTI, I TAKO TO / THE WALL OF DEATH AND ALL THAT (2016)

Run Time: 1:02:00
Producer: Mladen Kovacevic, Horopter Film Production
Co-producer: Tibor Keser, Restart
Director: Mladen Kovacevic
Director of photography: Pablo Ferro
Writer: Mladen Kovacevic
Editor: Jelena Maksimovic
Key Cast: Brankica Nadj, Goran Savic

FILM MAKERS

Director Mladen Kovacevic is no stranger to discovering rare and old occupations that are specific to the Balkans, mostly Serbia. His previous documentary ‘Unplugged’ is a story about an almost forgotten nature play with nature, about ways of the folk, of playing the leaves in a Serbian rural area. It’s another must-see, full of scenic depictions of nature in Serbia and an exploration of a long forgotten, often deemed-irrelevant knowledge.

SUMMARY

She spends her life defying gravity on a vertical road with no beginning or end.  Where she has nothing to hope for, and where injury and death await. She has only her memories.

When she was just 10 years old, Brankica was the central attraction at country-fairs. Her big brothers were star acrobats, legends in former Yugoslavia, and she was the princess on the wall. Now, her brothers are long gone, she is the only one left behind. A 43-year-old grandmother of six grandchildren, she is repeating the same old stunts on her motorcycle while riding on the sidewalls of the 6 meters wide wooden barrel. She lingers between her melancholic memories and the claustrophobic existence around the last remaining wall of death in the Balkans.
